Beauty and the old-timer

Portrait in contrast captured at the Vihara Maha Devi Park, Colombo. I wonder at the thoughts that could be flying through the mind of this guy…
I had my camera on a tripod and needed the guy reasonably sharp although he was far and tried the capture with a mid aperture and risked subject movement with a slow shutter speed.

Lankathilake Temple

The ornate edifice was originally a four story building; a place of Buddhist worships close to Kandy and is built on the summit of a rock and is believed to be dedicated to God Kataragama. The elegance of the architectural beauty is set off by this pond in the foreground and the figure on the steps gives scale to the structure.

Praying at church

Church at Duwa, Negombo Sri Lanka. The patch of light falling on this young lady, the pews and the tall arch; the molding of the pillars, the rather neglected walls all add to the mood of this image.

Smoking on a rainy day
This man from the fishing community was captured at the fish market. The guy resplendent in his orange hued jacket,, the faded green cap with a cigarette to his lips and just to the back of the old woman with her colorful umbrella made an interesting image of the day to day life in Negombo.

Girl and her bicycle

The smile captivated me. The innocence, friendliness, the carefree stance…… This girl in her discolored, yet comfortable blouse was caught on camera in the relaxing fishing village of Negombo, Sri Lanka.
